“My name is Eva, which means 'life,' according to a book of names my mother consulted. I was born in the back room of a shadowy house, and grew up amidst ancient furniture, books in Latin, and human mummies, but none of those things made me melancholy, because I came into the world with a breath of the jungle in my memory.”

I have been working with plants in various capacities since 2009.

I had the great fortune of growing up surrounded by my mom’s artful garden designs, and experienced plant spirit medicine in the womb.  My parents’ first business together was the Amazon Botanical Gardens, an ecological retreat deep in the jungles of Peru.  It was there that I spent the first year of my life, surrounded by lush vegetation and the vibrant hum of one of the most biodiverse regions in the world.

I discovered organic farming at age 19, and became enamored with the principles of permaculture and regenerative design.  My parents both grew up experiencing food scarcity, and that had a profound impact on how we ate when I was growing up.  Becoming a farmer felt like a crucial part of understanding my food sources and learning how to eat in a way that nourishes me, my community, and the earth as a whole.

Over the years, I have worked with and learned from plants in countless ways.  During the times when my primary income source was modeling or teaching, volunteering in community gardens allowed me to stay grounded and connected to what I value most.  I am a firm believer that all people, regardless of income, deserve access to fresh, healthy food. I am passionate about growing, preparing, and eating food that heals body, mind, community, and earth.

My work experience includes:

Essential Elements Apothecary - Herbalism Intern, Shop Attendant
